half of a half

I don't know what I was thinking!!  There is no way I could cover the last half of the year in one post, so I'm dividing it up.  Here's the next three months...

July
*photo shoot (thanks to Julie!) with an old 1921 fire engine on loan from the SLC Fireman's Relief Association...
*...followed by another year of the carnival (with Thomas) a block away from our house--there's no escaping it!!
*and then we drove the fire engine in the Riverton City 4th of July parade
*12:40am movie with Ben and friends to see Harry Potter 7 part 2!
*Ben started mowing lawns this summer
*camping with the fam in the Uintah's
*boating with family, friends, and more family
*Ben's scout camp and I went to girl's camp

*this picture taken after the movie got out...at 2:56AM!

August
*Grandma (Waterwheel) Cottrell was diagnosed with acute leukemia at the beginning of July.  She moved in with my mom and dad then, and she passed away at the beginning of August.  I feel very fortunate and blessed to have had her in my life for so many years.  She was a beautiful and amazing lady.
*We made a family trip to California for Grandma's funeral.  It was great to be with a lot of family at that time.  We also made a day trip to Legoland and another day we went to the beach.
*We had fun exploring the canals around Gpa and Gma Airplane's house...which, sadly (for the boys especially), was our last time there.  Gpa and Gma have since moved into Gma Waterwheel's house.
*Since there wasn't ever a Ghostbuster's Lego set made, the boys made their own, including the Ecto 1 and proton packs for the guys.
*Will started school at the end of July, and one of the fun things we did before Ben and Jake went back to school in September was to ride bikes with Will back and forth to school each day.
*Ben and Jake did a lot of playing with friends, including biking with Reggie and boating with the scouts
*Ben learned how to wake board this summer
*Will's 2nd grade class went on a field trip to Silver Lake, near Brighton--he loves his teacher this year, Miss Hoppes

September
*Ben continues to amaze us with his artistic abilities--he won first place and sweepstakes with his birdhouse painting at the Salt Lake County Fair and then won first place with the painting of a wheelbarrow in "Grandma Airplane's" yard at the State Fair, which he surprised Grandma with for Christmas.
*we made our annual visit to the Healing Field in remembrance of September 11
*I took pictures of my sister, Brenda, and her family one September afternoon
*And finally, the Lego Death Star saga deserves a post of its own, so that will be forthcoming too.
