Day 2--Vegas to Upland, Ca.

Pirates trying to get back to their ship!

You know, who needs alarm clocks when you have a boy like Will to wake you up at 5:45am?!! I'll be darned if that kid isn't the first one up almost every day, even when he's the last to go to bed! We'll still keep him, though. We were leaving Vegas early anyway because Daren had to be in Victorville, Ca. at an early hour for some law work stuff. We were originally going to do the Route 66 road trip in July, but we managed to consolidate these two trips, and put it all together in less than 2 weeks!! Tell me that wasn't a little crazy with end-of-the-school-year stuff going on, plus a ton of other stuff, but we are all still alive and having a blast on our trip (minus the fits both Ben and Jake seem to be going through lately).

I don't know how many times I have driven past this road sign in California and it always makes me smile--I finally got a picture of it today!!

We weathered the high desert winds, only to find cool, drizzly weather in Upland once we arrived--never mind that it has been sunny and 80 degrees for the past 4 week here until today! We didn't care, though, because we got to see Grandpa and Grandma Airplane--a name affectionately given to them a few years ago by Ben, so he could tell the difference between grandparents, with the other ones being called Gpa and Gma Train (because they have a train set at their house). And tomorrow we are going to see Gma Waterwheel.
I took this picture to show off my parents beautiful yard, and our cute Ben!

Daren made it back sooner than expected so we went to the local outdoor shopping mall called Victoria Gardens where we rode the trolley, went to see the movie, "Iron Man," which was very good I must say, rode the little kiddie train, and then we finally got to In-n-Out Burger for the first time this trip--YUM! This is what Will looked like by the time we got home after he had some time in the car with a few stickers from In-n-Out.

Total mileage so far: 686.7
Regular gas price in Upland, Ca: $4.49!
