day 6: arlington, va.: celebrating our history in D.C.

I mentioned yesterday that Daren was now sick, and he still was today. He spent half his night in the bathroom, and he spent most of the day in bed recovering. I took the boys out for a while to give him some peace and quiet. ("I'll be quiet." "I'll be peace." --from What About Bob, one of my favorite movies ever!)

The boys and I went to the National Museum of American History. I don't take the greatest pictures indoors, so I didn't get many, or at least many good ones, but these were ok.
We spent most of our time on the first floor in the transportation rooms. A shocker, I know.

There was a little blip in the ship section about the Titanic, including this real life vest from an unknown survivor. Just wait until they see the Titanic museum, um I mean memorial. ;)
This kid Jake is way too crazy to be president someday!!
This was a fun, kid-friendly room.
We had to stop for a picture in front of the Smithsonian castle. It was CHILLY!
Three boys and the nation's capitol. Good times! And that was about it for our day. It was a sprint back to the car so we wouldn't be there for more than the limit of three hours, and we barely made it, thanks to Ben who ran ahead and saved us!!

OH! You guys are gone?!? I remember now you telling me about this trip but I didn't realize it was NOW! :oP

Looks like a great time you all are having. Except Darin - what a bummer. I hope he's doing better and I hope you aren't next! Getting sick on vacation is a SIN!
I love D.C. We were there 2 summers ago. Our weather was a bit different than yours - they had record heat that week and it was just totally miserable. But we survived!

I can't wait to see more Titanic pictures. I love the one of the life vest. Amazing to think what that thing has seen. If it could only talk . . .
